Sports massage is a special type of massage that is particularly helpful to athletes. It is used before, during and after sports events. Sports massage involves the manipulation and mobilisation of muscles and soft tissues for pain relief, muscle repair, health maintenance and injury prevention. Many people assume that sports massage is only for people that regularly practice sport. In fact, some people get sports massages when they do not do sports, if they are simply working out vigorously. Others even get sports massages after physical jobs like moving furniture or planting a garden. Sports massage also works wonders in helping inactive people release painful tension and recover flexibility & movement.

A sports massage can be stimulating, it can be relaxing, or it can be a relief from pain. Passive/resisted stretching also included in every session depending on the area of treatment.

Deep tissue massage is rather a special technique/s targeting separate deeper layers of the muscle, tendons and ligaments or old scar tissue that lack of blood supleness and develop stiffness or pain, or physiological changes over long period of time usually due to muscle overuse (repetitive strain injury, RSI). Advanced massage techniques are used such as thumbs, fingertips, knuckles, forearms, even elbows, a special massage equipment, occacionally in order to effectively release areas of tension. You may be asked to take a deep breath to help you to relax. This deeper style of massage may sometimes cause some soreness or slight discomfort during, or in the days following the massage. This is simply the muscles releasing stored tension and toxins and will fade within a few days. It should not affect your next day after the treatment.

At EnergySome MASSAGE STUDIO we tend to incorporate both, deep tissue and sports massage techniques, or use them separately on each individual case. The treatment plan is usually discussed and set with an co-operation of the client on initial appointment, and is aiming to achieve a best possible outcome.
